What is the difference betweeen Diagnostics and Screening Ultrasound?

Screening Ultrasound
Purpose: Designed for early detection in individuals who may not yet have symptoms.
Use Case: Used as a preventive tool to identify potential risk factors—such as blocked arteries, aneurysms, or circulatory issues—before they become serious medical conditions. Screening helps patients take proactive steps toward their health.
Diagnostic Ultrasound
Purpose: Performed when a patient presents with symptoms or has a known or suspected medical condition requiring further evaluation.
Use Case: Provides detailed imaging to support a clinical diagnosis. These studies are interpreted by a board-certified radiologist and used by the ordering provider to guide treatment decisions and ongoing patient care.

During the Ultrasound

How Long Does an Ultrasound Take?
Most ultrasound exams are completed within 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the type and complexity of the study. Our goal is to provide efficient, high-quality imaging while ensuring patient comfort throughout the exam.
Do I Need to Prepare for My Ultrasound?
Preparation requirements vary based on the type of ultrasound being performed:
  • Abdominal Ultrasound: May require fasting for several hours prior to the exam.
  • Pelvic Ultrasound: May require a full bladder for optimal imaging.
Our team will provide clear, detailed preparation instructions at the time of scheduling to ensure the most accurate results.
